Meet Chef Velvet
Chef Velvet is a sought after celebrity chef,
entrepreneur, author, social justice activist, public speaker, and restaurant owner. She is the visionary behind the hottest restaurant in Los Angeles, “The Vtree Silverlake”. Not only is she one of the most sought-after celebrity chefs in the business.
She also is the co-Founder of “Vegan in the Hood” a global program that teaches
underserved communities the importance of community gardens, self-sustainability, and the life benefits of a healthy diet.
Her celebrity resume includes Erykah Badu, the legendary Dick Gregory, Lamman Rucker, Common, Ayanna Gregory, Maimouna Youssef, Be Steadwell to name a few. Her distinct soul food flare had been well received and she is honored to have culinary passion and creativity.
WHAT THE FOODIES SAY
"The CORNBREAD. It's delicious. My grandma doesn't need to know how much I love this cornbread or she'd be jealous. The barbecue chicken brings a tear to my eye, I dream about that chicken!!! I'm not a fan of yams but gave them to a friend and she finished them in a heart beat and said they were "damn good" I'll take her word for it. The collard greens are good, I do wish they were a bit more tender and flavorful but that's nothing hot sauce can't fix. The shrimp is great, the mac and cheese is oookay but I'm not a fan of most vegan mac and cheese. It just lacks that cheesy taste I look for. I'm vegan 3 years and rarely order it because I know I'll be disappointed so perhaps it's just me. Overall the food is delicious, the customer service is exceptional, they're such warm people."
